Consider/Approve Pre-K Smart Board Bid |

Preliminary Matters: In addition to advertising, we solicited bids from Hatch and Bid Ocean for the purchase of two (2) Smart Board packages for Ridgemont and Hillcrest Elementary Schools’ Pre-K Programs. We received a bid from Hatch for $7,600 each. This bid includes the interactive Smart Board with attached projector, a Pre-K appropriate activity bundle (phonological awareness, number recognition, social-emotional development, counting, and pre-writing), warranty, installation, staff development training for full implementation in the classroom, and customer service guarantee. The purchase of Smart Boards was not specifically requested during the budget planning process for the current fiscal year although an ample amount of funds was provided for instructional supplies and materials and equipment, and Pre-K funds are available in the FY09 budget as approved by the Board.
Staff Recommendation: I recommend approval of the bid submitted by Hatch for the purchase of Smart Boards. Prior to the end of the fiscal year, to ensure that all State funds are expended, we will purchase as many Smart Boards as the budget allows. |
